PSP Damaia

Internal Administration Ministry

In the studies’ development, the functional features of the defined spaces and the activities of the building’s users were taken into account, looking for a solution that, accounting for these requirements, would not overlook the fact that this was a building that would, necessarily focus the on institution’s dignity.

Of the program

The program defined a number of spaces with the functional assignment, main requirements and necessary terrain area. In the total, the stated floor area is of 165.50m².

The territory where the building’s location was intended is at the “drawer” formed by Bernardino Machado Street and the Soeiro Pereira Gomes Square and limits, to Southwest and Northwest, with the High School, having an estimated area of 760.40m².

Of the solution

The presented solution is based on the creation of two elements in a single floor, in which the first one corresponds to the services and the second one to a reserved area of the dormitory, changing rooms and watering place. The two interconnected elements follow the terrain’s ramp being the pavements’ level variation of 0,90m, what allows for the building to be settled without resorting to large soil movements.

The entry was located in higher height area, with a connection to the main street.

Of the functional division

As a basis for the organization, a horizontal division was chosen, with a prioritization of the public areas and of those for employees.

The entry, covered, provides access through the atrium’s wind protection. At this atrium, a common area, the attendance desk (Service’s Graduate) is located, as well as the connection to the public toilet and to the victim supporting office. From the lobby, through the door, one enters into the distribution circulation connected to the secretariat, Chief’s office and detention room. The element intended to be the changing rooms is connected to this circulation area, to the watering place and dormitory, being that in these two elements’ division area is the pantry and the resting room.
