The Tivoli Hotel at Liberdade Avenue dates from 1933. In the mid fifties, its owners, Dr. Sá Machás and Mr. Cardoso, decided to build a new Tivoli, in their terrain, with 300 chambers. For the project’s development they summoned the Architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro.
The project was developed in two phases. The first one was developed in 1956 by Architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro and the second one, started in 1958, was developed by Architect António Pardal Monteiro, who cooperated in the project since its beginning.
