The Built Complex of the António José Gomes Palace is located in the Historic Centre of Cova da Piedade, at Largo 5 de Outubro, nº 34–38 in Almada, and is owned by the Almada City Council. The main façade of the property faces the public garden that has occupied the entire square since 1873, featuring a bandstand. The west side façade borders the churchyard of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Piedade. The rear of the palace is accessed via Rua Francisco Ferrer.

The built complex consists of the António José Gomes Palace, the main building, the former stable, the animal breeding pavilion, the garage, and the caretakers’ house/cheese dairy.

Regarding the António José Gomes Palace, the intervention consists of the complete rehabilitation of the building and its reuse for cultural and administrative events. In the Stable, the intervention includes full rehabilitation for its reuse as a cultural venue in the form of an amphitheatre for music, theatre, or other events. In the Animal Breeding Pavilion, the intervention also includes total rehabilitation, with the cage area transformed into a covered passage. In the section of this building without relevant finishes, sanitary facilities and service dressing rooms for the amphitheatre were designed. The Garage was converted into a support bar for the gardens, and the Caretakers’ House/Cheese Dairy was reconverted into an exhibition hall, using the entire ruined interior space. In these interventions, the walls were consolidated and a new slab roof structure, covered with Marseille tiles, was designed.
