Labor Court in Faro

Remodeling of the Labor Court / Family and Children / Civil / JIC and DIAP in Faro
IGFEJ – Instituto de Gestão Financeira e Equipamentos de Justiça

The present project concerns the intervention in the building where the Family and Children’s Court, the Labor Court, the Bar Association and IRN facilities are currently installed.
The building is located in Faro and has two street fronts, one for the street Antero de Quental and another for the street Pedro Nunes.
The building was built in the early 90’s to install the two Courts and the services of the registries and notary.
Taking into account the changes dictated by the new “Judicial Map”, we were entrusted by the IGFEJ to develop the general project for the reinstallation of the Court of Family and Minors and the Labor Court and the installation of Civil Judgments) and Department of Criminal Action Investigation (DIAP).
The intervention basically focuses on the functional remodeling of the whole of the building, taking into account the conditions of “habitability” and environmental conditions that are fundamental for the good general functioning of the services to be installed.
The project solution was developed taking into consideration the maximum amount stipulated for the intervention, so we had to opt for solutions that, without losing sight of the correct operation of the services, were more economical.
Considering that it is only the partial remodeling of the building, in which several spaces are maintained and in the other the interventions are of alteration and reorganization of compartmentalization, the projected architectural solution maintains the existing concepts and language, being only in spaces like new courtrooms and audits were chosen for a differentiated intervention.
