The building that hosts these laboratories is located in the INSA – Institute of National Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge – benefiting from a location that, in some ways, reflects its autonomy from the Institute.
The structure contains three floors, where the two top ones are mainly occupied with various laboratories, whereas the bottom one, forming a heavy-load-vehicle accessible partial basement, is directed towards central techniques, archives and storehouses.
The building hosts the Cutting Devices/Coagulation and Dental Medicine, Ionizing Radiations, non-Ionizing Radiations, Clinical Pathology Analysis, Physiotherapy, Prosthesis and Orthotics, Laser, ECG, EMG, EEG and Monitoring and Implantable Medical Equipment laboratories.
In order to cope with the institute’s enlargement, the building was designed to receive a new floor. This is the reason why, during the construction, it was decided that the stairway and lift would be extended in the respective future floor.
