Loures Municipality

The program was established by the Municipality of Loures, based on a D.R.E.L. for elementary school from 1st cycle + kindergarten (8 + 3).
The type school that constituted the program is formed by a set of plants that define in a general way the spaces to consider, their interconnections, as well as the approximate areas to consider for each space.
In addition to the type school, which was a reference for the development of functional solutions and the organization of spaces, the working meetings with the technicians of the Loures City Council proved essential for clarifying the programmatic particularities.
The school is formed by two bodies interconnected by a transitional body.
The main body, with two floors and rectangular shape with about 52 m by 22 m, develops parallel to Av. Dos Bombeiros Voluntários and houses the school and kindergarten.
The second body, with a configuration close to the square, about 18.50 m in side, implanted north of the main body, constitutes the gymnasium and associated facilities.
These two main bodies are interconnected by a third, transparent body, where the main entrance of the building is located.
