The building subject to the present proposal is located on Travessa do Castro, in a consolidated area of Lisbon characterized by a traditional urban fabric and a significant heritage and landscape density. The proximity to the Palácio das Necessidades, classified as a Property of Public Interest, and to the extensive green area of the Tapada das Necessidades, lends the site a singular character, marked by remarkable environmental and heritage value.
The site required a design approach that respects the prevailing alignments, the proportions of the built volumes, and the scale relationships with neighbouring buildings. The proposal aims precisely to respond to this context through a reading of the urban setting and the adoption of architectural solutions that enhance the formal and material continuity of the existing fabric, promoting the requalification of the plot and its appropriate integration into the consolidated urban tissue.
From an architectural perspective, the proposal incorporates solutions that ensure its morphological and typological integration with the surroundings, with particular attention to the composition of façades, the definition of building height, and the volumetric relationship with adjoining buildings, thereby ensuring a continuous and harmonious urban reading.
The building is intended for a single-family dwelling, consisting of a four-bedroom triplex (T4) spread across three floors and the converted roof space. Access is provided from the ground floor at street level, with vertical circulation via a staircase serving all floors and a lift connecting levels 0, 1, and 2.
