Architectural Project And Specialities For Building 14, Arts Pavilion And Bar, Gambelas Campus

This project refers to the construction of the Arts Pavilion and Bar, in Gambelas Campus, building 14.

After analysing the urban occupation envisaged in the Gambelas Campus General Plan, the location for the new building was selected in the area where the bar is currently located. This is an area in a central position on campus in terms of roads, pedestrians and car parking, served by all the infrastructures. The building will be located on the site of the current bar, which it will replace, allowing the two units, the Bar and the Arts Pavilion, to operate more smoothly, particularly in terms of access.

The new facilities now planned will have a volume of one floor, not exceeding that of any of the current bodies, proposing a solution that will be integrated into the university’s initial general concept, so that it will be presented as a homogeneous whole.

Following on from the above, the new rectangular building will be an autonomous piece, made up of two completely separate areas, one for the Bar and the other for the Arts Pavilion, both communicating directly and independently with the outside.

The Arts Pavilion will consist of a central nave with high ceilings that will serve as a distribution hall for the rooms and simultaneously as a large hall for events and exhibitions.

In general, light colours will be used, always using materials that give way to smooth, matt surfaces.

However, this principle does not eliminate the use of colour as a way of characterising different locations or functions.
